Speaking at a rally held at Kamkunji grounds in Kibera, Oburu emphasized that his focus is on strengthening the party and ensuring unity, so that ODM can negotiate from a position of strength with other like-minded parties ahead of the 2027 general election.
Oburu told members that the party fully supports the Broad-based Government arrangement, a deal that remains in force until 2027.
He said ODM’s participation in the coalition allows it to influence national decisions and push for policies that benefit its supporters.
The Party Leader revealed that ODM will soon begin formal engagements with other political parties, starting with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), with which it shares the broad-based arrangement.
These discussions are aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration and building a coalition for the 2027 elections.
In addition, Oburu said he will embark on countrywide tours to meet party officials and delegates.
The goal, he explained, is to listen to members’ views on key issues, gather input on strategies to strengthen the party, and ensure that ODM remains responsive to the needs of its grassroots supporters.
“Our party is strong, and I am confident that we will go into the 2027 general election as a united front,” Oburu said, urging members to work together and put aside personal differences for the good of the party.
He emphasized that divergent opinions within ODM are welcome, as long as members remain committed to the party’s principles and collective goals.
Oburu also called on members to maintain discipline and focus on mobilizing support, building party structures, and engaging communities across the country.
He said this approach will ensure that ODM continues to grow its influence while maintaining internal cohesion.
