Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has expressed her deep sorrow following recent tragic accidents at Kikopey and along the Nairobi–Mombasa Road near Konza City.

In a statement, she extended her condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, saying her thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

Passaris highlighted that investigations into the accidents are ongoing and that eyewitness accounts provide only a partial picture of the events leading to these tragedies.

However, she stressed that certain dangers on the roads are all too familiar and preventable. Speeding, reckless overtaking, fatigue, and impaired driving continue to contribute significantly to road fatalities across the country.

The legislator used the incidents as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving. She urged all motorists to prioritize caution over haste, emphasizing that patience can save lives.

“Arriving alive is always more important than arriving early,” she said, highlighting the need for drivers to slow down, avoid risky maneuvers, and respect traffic laws.

Passaris also warned against driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, calling it one of the most avoidable causes of accidents.

She noted that while individual choices matter, road safety is a collective responsibility that involves drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and law enforcement. Everyone has a role to play in preventing further loss of life on Kenya’s roads.

The Nairobi Woman Representative encouraged authorities to continue enforcing traffic regulations, including speed limits, seatbelt use, and proper vehicle maintenance, to reduce accidents.

She also called on communities to support campaigns that promote road safety awareness and educate drivers about the consequences of reckless behavior.
