According to Muthende, no single leader is bigger than a political party that has deep roots among the people.
He explained that ODM has survived many political challenges in the past, including leadership disputes and shifting alliances, but it has always remained strong.
For this reason, he believes Sifuna’s exit will not weaken the party in any significant way.
The MP further stated that leaving a well-established party like ODM could damage Sifuna’s political career.
He noted that Sifuna has grown politically through the party and gained national recognition while serving under its banner.
Walking away from such a strong support system, Muthende said, may make it difficult for Sifuna to maintain the same level of influence and public trust.
Muthende also spoke about the current political environment in the country. He said Kenya is facing several economic and social challenges that require leaders to work together rather than compete against each other.
According to him, many Kenyans are more concerned about development issues such as job opportunities, rising cost of living, better healthcare services, and improved education systems.
He explained that citizens now expect political parties to focus on delivering services and improving the lives of ordinary people.
Muthende argued that leaders who create divisions or engage in political fights risk losing the support of voters who are looking for unity and progress.
The lawmaker also warned that building a strong political movement outside a major party is not easy.
He said it requires time, strong grassroots connections, and huge financial resources.
In his view, Sifuna may face challenges trying to establish himself politically without the support of ODM’s structures and loyal supporters.
Despite his criticism, Muthende acknowledged that Sifuna is a capable leader with strong communication skills and political experience.
However, he emphasised that personal talent alone cannot guarantee long-term political success.
He said strong party support and well-organised structures often play a major role in shaping a leader’s career.
Muthende maintained that ODM remains one of the most influential political parties in the country and continues to attract wide support from Kenyans.
He expressed confidence that the party will continue to grow and remain relevant regardless of individual departures.
