In a notice to customers issued on Friday, March 6, 2026, the utility company explained that technicians will use the blackout period to carry out critical upgrades and maintenance on the electricity infrastructure.
“Good evening, please be advised that there will be a scheduled power interruption as outlined in the attached notice: Date: Saturday, 07.03.2026,” the statement read.
In Nairobi, the outage will affect the Taj Mall area along North Airport Road.
The electricity supply will be switched off from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Customers in this area are advised to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions to minimise disruption.
Several businesses and facilities will be impacted by the outage, including Kitchen Professional, Jesus Celebration Centre, Fiveveg Trading Company, Borole, Caribbean Food Embakasi, Tononoka Paper Ltd, and Five Star Manufacturers.
Other affected locations include Transami, Amicabre Travel Services, DK Engineering, Embakasi Village, Crafts Juakali Association, Dakawou Transport Ltd, Amiran Kenya, G4S Security Services, Duldu Godowns, and surrounding customers.
Residents in Bungoma County will also experience interruptions as Kenya Power carries out maintenance work to strengthen the electricity network in the region.
While the company has not specified exact areas in Bungoma, customers are advised to remain alert to local updates and notices issued by the utility provider.
Kenya Power emphasised that such planned outages are necessary to prevent unexpected breakdowns and improve overall service delivery.
The company urged residents and businesses to plan ahead, secure electronic devices, and take safety measures to avoid accidents during the blackout.
