Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi has distanced himself from the ongoing dispute surrounding the estate of the late Nyeri Governor, dismissing claims linking him to the matter and calling for a peaceful resolution.

Speaking amid growing public interest in the succession row, Wamumbi said he has no personal or political interest in the estate and urged those involved to refrain from dragging his name into the issue.

He maintained that his focus remains on serving the people of Mathira and addressing development concerns in the constituency.

“I have not been involved in the dispute over the late governor’s estate in any way. It is unfortunate that my name is being mentioned in matters that do not concern me,” Wamumbi said.

The MP noted that the ongoing wrangles have caused unnecessary tension among family members and the wider community, calling for dialogue and respect for the law in resolving the matter.

He emphasized the need for unity and cautioned against politicising what he described as a sensitive family issue.

Wamumbi further revealed that he is seeking an audience with President William Ruto to help find an amicable solution to the dispute.

He expressed confidence that the Head of State’s intervention could help ease tensions and guide the parties toward a fair settlement.

“I am seeking a meeting with the President so that we can find a lasting solution to this issue.

This is a matter that requires calm and sober leadership to ensure justice is done and harmony is restored,” he added.

The lawmaker underscored the importance of following legal procedures in handling matters of succession, urging all parties to respect court processes and avoid actions that could escalate the situation.

He warned that continued public disagreements risk undermining the dignity of the late governor’s legacy.

Residents and leaders in Nyeri have also weighed in on the matter, with some calling for restraint and urging those involved to prioritise peaceful engagement.

The dispute has drawn attention across the county, with concerns that prolonged disagreements could affect cohesion within the community.

Wamumbi reiterated that he remains committed to fostering unity and development in the region, and will not be distracted by what he termed as “misleading allegations.”

He appealed to the public to verify information before sharing it, especially on sensitive matters involving families and estates.
