Stepping into the role on an interim basis is Nicholas Bodo, who has been appointed Acting Director General.
He is expected to provide leadership continuity as the authority begins the process of recruiting a substantive office holder.
The board said Bodo will oversee the day-to-day operations of the regulator while ensuring that ongoing programmes and regulatory functions continue without disruption.
His appointment is aimed at maintaining stability within the organisation during the transition period.
KCAA plays a central role in regulating and overseeing Kenya’s aviation sector, including ensuring safety, security, and efficiency in air transport operations.
Leadership changes within the authority are therefore closely watched by stakeholders across the aviation industry.
According to the statement, the recruitment of a new Director General will follow established procedures designed to ensure transparency and competitiveness.
“The recruitment process will be conducted through an open, transparent, and competitive framework in line with established governance procedures,” Ondego said.
The board did not provide a timeline for the recruitment process but indicated that it would adhere to all legal and regulatory requirements.
The selection of a substantive Director General is expected to attract interest from candidates with experience in aviation, management, and regulatory affairs.
