Kenya Power has announced planned maintenance that will leave parts of Nairobi and Kilifi counties without electricity on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

The utility firm said the works are part of routine upgrades and repairs on the power distribution network aimed at improving service delivery and reliability.

“Good afternoon. Kindly note that the following areas will be on planned maintenance tomorrow, Sunday, 12/04/2026,” the company said in a notice posted on its official X account on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Kenya Power added that customers can access updates and additional information through its chatbot and self-service platforms.

In the Nairobi region, the outage will affect areas along Mombasa Road and parts of Machakos County. Among the locations listed are Lukenya Village, Daystar University and nearby customers.

The company indicated that the maintenance in this region will run from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., resulting in a ten-hour interruption.

The planned outage is expected to disrupt normal operations for homes, businesses and institutions along the affected corridor.

Residents and business owners have been advised to plan accordingly to minimise inconvenience during the period.

Kenya Power noted that such maintenance is necessary to ensure the network remains stable and efficient, particularly in areas experiencing increased demand.

The company said it aims to complete the works within the scheduled timeframe, although power may be restored earlier if the exercise is finalised ahead of time.

In the Coast region, parts of Kilifi County will also experience power interruptions. The company stated that the outage in this area will occur between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.

Affected areas in Kilifi include Kikambala, Mavueni and locations around Mombasa Cement.

Residents and businesses in these areas have similarly been advised to make the necessary arrangements in advance.

Kenya Power reiterated its commitment to maintaining and upgrading its infrastructure to support reliable electricity supply across the country.

It also encouraged customers to report any issues or seek clarification through its official communication channels.
