Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Acting Secretary General Catherine Omanyo has announced that the party’s Central Management Committee (CMC) will meet on Thursday, April 16, 2026, to deliberate on the commencement of pre-coalition talks with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on the same day, the Busia Woman Representative said the meeting is expected to provide direction on when and how the party will formally engage its UDA counterparts.

Omanyo noted that there has been growing interest among Kenyans regarding the timeline for the anticipated talks, with many keen to understand the nature and scope of the potential political arrangement.

She said the party leadership is aware of the expectations and is moving to ensure that the process is handled in an orderly and consultative manner.

According to her, the upcoming CMC meeting will play a key role in setting the stage for the next steps.

Omanyo further revealed that the Special National Delegates Conference had already given the party leader, Oburu Odinga, the mandate to steer ODM in the pre-coalition discussions with UDA.

She emphasised that this decision by the party’s top decision-making organ provides clear authority for the leadership to proceed.

According to her, it would not be appropriate for the party to delay the process when it has already received the necessary approval from its highest organ.

She underscored the importance of adhering to the resolutions made by party structures, noting that such decisions reflect the collective will of members.

The Acting Secretary General maintained that the discussions with UDA are expected to focus on areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration, although she did not disclose specific details ahead of the meeting.

She also stressed the need for transparency and inclusivity in the process, stating that party members and stakeholders will be kept informed as developments unfold.

Omanyo added that ODM remains committed to ensuring that any political engagement it enters into aligns with its principles and the interests of its supporters.
