Omar further criticised calls by the opposition for mass action over the rising cost of fuel, describing the move as reckless and lacking in sound judgment.
He cautioned that such actions could disrupt normal economic activity and place unnecessary strain on citizens already grappling with the high cost of living.
“President Ruto’s UDA dismisses United Opposition claims that the fuel crisis is being manufactured locally; party Secretary-General Hassan Omar terms calls for mass action over rising fuel prices as outrageous and naive,” Omar said.
The UDA official stressed that the government remains committed to addressing the challenges affecting the energy sector through practical and sustainable measures.
He noted that the administration is closely monitoring the situation and is taking steps aimed at stabilising fuel supply and prices.
According to Omar, the opposition’s narrative risks creating unnecessary panic among the public, while undermining efforts being made to manage the situation.
He urged leaders to prioritise responsible communication and avoid statements that could inflame tensions or mislead citizens.
He also reiterated that Kenya, like many other countries, is affected by global market dynamics, including fluctuations in international oil prices and supply chain constraints.
These factors, he said, are beyond the direct control of the government but are being managed through policy interventions and strategic planning.
Omar called on Kenyans to remain calm and patient as the government works to resolve the challenges, assuring them that measures are in place to cushion consumers from extreme price volatility.
He emphasised that maintaining stability in the country should be a shared responsibility among all leaders, regardless of political affiliation.
