In a strongly worded statement, Kuria accused Gachagua of undermining Kenya’s international image and failing to appreciate the significance of the high-level summit that brought together leaders, diplomats and global stakeholders.
“The timing and flavour of Rigathi Gachagua's comments on the Africa Forward Summit is further proof of a leader who does not care for this great nation,” Kuria said.
The remarks came after Gachagua questioned the value and intent of the summit, arguing that such events do little to address the everyday struggles facing ordinary Kenyans.
His comments sparked political debate, with allies of the government defending the forum as an important platform for Kenya’s diplomatic and economic engagement with the rest of the world.
Kuria said political disagreements within the country should not overshadow moments that place Kenya on the international stage.
“We may have our local differences but for Kenya to host an event of this magnitude is something that all well-meaning Kenyans should be proud of,” he stated.
The former adviser further challenged Gachagua to demonstrate his own international engagement during his time in opposition politics, questioning his diplomatic visibility and connections with foreign leaders.
“By the way I challenge Rigathi Gachagua to post even one photo of him meeting any diplomat as an opposition leader.
Which leader of opposition can go for almost two years without meeting the international community?” Kuria posed.
His criticism marks the latest escalation in the widening political fallout between leaders once associated with President Ruto’s political camp.
Since leaving government, Gachagua has increasingly positioned himself as a vocal critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration, often accusing it of abandoning ordinary citizens and concentrating on elite political interests.
Kuria, however, dismissed Gachagua’s political approach, claiming it was driven by personal ambition rather than national interest.
“Rigathi Gachagua will soon reveal his true self a village tyrant suicidally determined to lead a cult not a nation,” Kuria said.
