The Secretary-General of the United Democratic Alliance, Hassan Omar Hassan, has made strong remarks targeting former President Uhuru Kenyatta and defending the current administration of President William Ruto.

Speaking in a charged political address, Hassan Omar made allegations against the former Head of State, claiming there were issues linked to the wheat sector and subsidy programmes during his administration.

He went on to question the handling of governance under the previous administration while contrasting it with the current government’s approach, arguing that there is ongoing political pressure being directed at state institutions and leaders.

“Ni nini mlifanywa na William Ruto? Mnasuppress watu. What kind of radicalization is this?”

In his remarks, the UDA Secretary-General also raised concerns about what he termed rising radicalisation and criminal behaviour in the country, linking it to broader security challenges facing law enforcement agencies.

“Hii nchi bado iko na kifungo cha maisha na bado iko kunyonga. Wale watu wanapatikana na extreme barbarism, let them face the rope.”

His statements come amid heightened political tensions between the ruling party and opposition figures, with leaders trading accusations over governance, accountability, and the country’s direction under the current administration.

Hassan Omar defended the government’s record, insisting that President William Ruto’s administration has been working to stabilise the economy and address challenges inherited from previous leadership.

He argued that political attacks targeting the current government were distracting from ongoing reforms and efforts aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening state institutions.

The remarks quickly sparked debate, with political observers noting that such strong language could further deepen divisions between supporters of the ruling party and opposition camps at a time when the country is grappling with economic pressures and security concerns.
