According to a statement shared following his release, the officer’s legal representative confirmed that the decision was made without conditions attached, although authorities will proceed with further inquiries related to the circumstances of his arrest and actions under investigation.
“The good OCS is finally free. He has been released unconditionally but investigations will still continue. Many thanks to all Kenyans who have shown solidarity,” the lawyer said.
The lawyer also expressed gratitude to members of the public who followed the case closely and voiced support during the period of detention, noting that public engagement played a significant role in drawing attention to the matter.
“I really thank the online community as well for the pressure that you guys have applied. It has helped,” the statement added.
He went on to acknowledge several legal professionals and individuals who stood in solidarity throughout the day, saying their presence and support were instrumental during the process.
“I specifically thank @FaithOdhiambo8 @OduorACaroline @LeviMunyeri @gloria_kimani @Rrajab and senior Anyonka who has been with us all day. Nyinyi ni watu wa maana sana!”
The release of the OCS comes amid heightened public debate over his arrest, which had attracted widespread attention across social media platforms and among legal and political circles.
Supporters of the officer had earlier camped outside detention and medical facilities demanding clarity on his condition and calling for adherence to due process, arguing that his actions fell within lawful discretion in handling suspects.
The matter had sparked mixed reactions, with some defending the officer’s conduct while others called for accountability in the handling of suspects arrested during recent protests linked to fuel prices and transport disruptions.
Authorities have not yet issued a detailed public statement outlining the outcome of the investigations, but sources indicate that the case remains active and under review by relevant agencies.
