In a strongly worded statement, Wahome accused Gachagua of undermining the country’s diplomatic standing following his criticism of President William Ruto and the government’s hosting of a major international summit attended by more than 30 heads of state and government officials.
According to Wahome, Gachagua’s comments reflected disbelief that Kenya had successfully organised and hosted an event of such global significance under President Ruto’s leadership.
“The Hon Rigathi Gachagua, former Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, your recent criticism of the government propelled by disbelief that H.E Dr William Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya, was able to host over 30 Heads of States and Governments has exposed you badly,” Wahome stated.
The Cabinet Secretary argued that Kenya’s ability to host international leaders should be a source of national pride rather than political criticism.
She maintained that such events elevate the country’s profile globally and strengthen diplomatic and economic partnerships.
Wahome further accused Gachagua of engaging in reckless political attacks that could damage his own political standing and that of his allies.
“You are a walking time bomb. You will blow yourself and your team in an attempt to reach H.E Ruto. And make no mistake. That is an impossible mission,” she said.
Her remarks come amid growing political tensions between Gachagua and members of the Kenya Kwanza administration following his increasingly critical stance against the government since leaving office.
Wahome also took issue with Gachagua’s reported criticism of international figures, including United Nations Secretary-General and French President Emmanuel Macron, saying such statements raise concerns about his leadership approach and diplomatic posture.
“You criticize the UN Secretary General and President Macron in one statement and then tell us you are taking us Kenyans somewhere. Apana,” Wahome stated.
