They say the world can be upside down, but for Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria, the last three days have felt exactly like that.

He has faced strong criticism and harsh attacks from many people across social media, with some users even resorting to insults and threats.

On Monday, January 19, 2026, Mosiria took to his Facebook page to respond to the backlash.

He said he was not surprised by the negative reactions, but he made it clear that his position is based on the law and on respect for basic human dignity.

Mosiria explained that his views and actions have been misunderstood by many people online.

He said that he has been pushed into a corner where people want him to pick sides, but that was never his intention.

He emphasized that he has always tried to act fairly and within the rules, rather than follow popular opinion or political pressure.

“People online have tried to force me into picking sides, yet that was never my intention,” Mosiria said.

He added that he remains guided by what the law allows and by what is right for every human being.

Mosiria’s message came after a wave of criticism over his recent statements and decisions, which some social media users described as controversial.

The online debate grew quickly, with many people using the internet to express strong opinions and challenge his stance.

Despite the harsh comments, Mosiria said he will not be intimidated or swayed by online pressure.

He urged Kenyans to understand that public servants sometimes have to make difficult choices, especially when the law and public interest are involved.

He also called on the public to respect differing opinions and avoid attacking individuals personally.

Mosiria said that while everyone is entitled to their own views, social media should not be used to spread hate or misinformation.

In his post, Mosiria appealed for calm and asked people to focus on facts rather than emotions.

He encouraged those who disagree with him to engage in peaceful and respectful discussions.
