He said anyone found engaging in early campaigns outside these guidelines risks facing legal consequences.
According to him, the election calendar is clearly outlined to give all candidates a fair chance and to maintain order in the country.
Campaigning too early, he noted, creates an unfair advantage for some and may also lead to unnecessary political tension.
“IEBC will not hesitate to act against those who ignore the law,” Mwaura said.
He explained that the commission has the mandate to regulate political activities and ensure that campaigns are conducted in a peaceful and organized manner.
In recent months, there have been reports of leaders holding public meetings that appear to promote their 2027 ambitions.
Some have been seen putting up banners, distributing branded materials, and addressing gatherings in ways that resemble campaign rallies.
This has raised concerns among citizens and political observers about whether the law is being followed.
Mwaura reminded leaders that public resources should not be used for personal political gain. He said government platforms and official functions must not be turned into campaign grounds.
He stressed that respecting the law is part of strengthening democracy in Kenya.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious political activities that go against electoral regulations.
According to him, the responsibility of protecting the integrity of elections does not lie with the IEBC alone but with all Kenyans.
Political analysts say early campaigns often lead to heightened political temperatures long before the official election period.
This can shift focus away from development work and create divisions among communities.
By enforcing the law strictly, the IEBC hopes to maintain stability and give the country enough time to prepare properly for the next general election.
Mwaura assured Kenyans that the commission is committed to fairness and transparency.
He said IEBC will apply the law equally to all leaders, regardless of their political affiliation or status.
