Hundreds of residents from different parts of South Rift gathered at Emurua Dikirr Primary School to pay their final respects to their late Member of Parliament Johanna Ng'eno and other victims who lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash.

The emotional gathering brought together families, friends, political leaders, and community members who came to mourn and celebrate the lives of the five men who died in the accident.

Their bodies were received at the school grounds where a joint requiem service was held.

Alongside the late MP, the other victims remembered during the ceremony included Robert Keter, Amos Rotich, Wycliffe Rono, and Nicholas Kosgei.
The service was marked by deep emotions as mourners filled the school grounds early in the morning, many dressed in black as a sign of grief and respect.

Religious leaders led prayers and messages of comfort, urging the families to remain strong during this painful time.

Speakers who addressed the gathering described the late Ng’eno as a passionate and fearless leader who always spoke openly on issues affecting his constituents.

Many residents said he had built a strong connection with the community and was known for standing up for ordinary people.

Community members shared memories of the late MP’s dedication to development and his efforts to support education, infrastructure, and youth programs in the region.

Some residents recalled how he frequently visited local projects and interacted directly with the people he represented.

The joint requiem service also gave families of the other victims an opportunity to honour their loved ones.

Friends and relatives spoke about the lives they lived, describing them as hardworking individuals who played important roles within their families and communities.

At different moments during the ceremony, the atmosphere turned quiet as mourners reflected on the sudden loss of several lives in a single tragic event.

Many could be seen comforting each other while others wiped away tears as prayers and songs filled the air.

Leaders present at the service called for unity and support for the bereaved families.

They reminded the community that moments of tragedy require people to stand together and help those who have lost loved ones.

The requiem service also served as a moment for the community to celebrate the achievements and memories left behind by the five men.

Speakers encouraged residents to remember their contributions and the impact they had on those around them.
