Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has raised concerns over what he describes as inaction by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations following a recent incident in Karen that forced him to abandon his vehicle during a reported car chase.

Tuju said he had earlier lodged a complaint with authorities regarding two individuals he claims had been trailing him.

However, he now alleges that no meaningful action has been taken despite his report, leaving him worried about his safety.

According to Tuju, the situation escalated in Karen when he was pursued under unclear circumstances, prompting him to leave his vehicle and seek safety.

He did not provide further details about the individuals involved but maintained that the matter had been formally brought to the attention of investigators before the incident.

The former Cabinet Secretary questioned the response from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, saying he expected a more urgent and thorough follow-up after raising concerns about his security.

He indicated that the lack of visible action has heightened his anxiety, particularly given the seriousness of the alleged incident.

Tuju also revealed that his close associate, Steve Mwanga, is currently in police custody after being arrested under circumstances he described as unclear.

He expressed concern over the arrest, stating that he had not been given sufficient information about the reasons behind Mwanga’s detention.

The developments have added to the uncertainty surrounding the situation, with Tuju calling for clarity from authorities on both the reported car chase and the arrest of his associate.

He said it was important for investigators to address the issues transparently to restore confidence in the process.

At the same time, Tuju disclosed that his health remains a concern, noting that he is preparing to travel to South Africa for further medical treatment.

He did not elaborate on his condition but indicated that it requires continued attention.

The combination of security concerns and health challenges, he said, has made the situation particularly difficult, underscoring the need for timely intervention by the relevant authorities.
