Speaking on behalf of the United Opposition on Thursday, December 11, 2025, Kalonzo warned that the country’s most important facilities were facing what he described as growing threats that Kenyans must not ignore.
In his address, Kalonzo urged citizens to stand united in protecting national resources such as pipelines, airports, major companies, and financial institutions.
He said these assets belong to the people of Kenya and should never be allowed to fall into the wrong hands, whether through mismanagement or external influence.
“We call on every citizen, every institution, every civil society organisation, and every community to rise,” he said. “Protect our pipelines, our airports, our companies, and our financial institutions.”
Kalonzo insisted that safeguarding these assets is not a political duty but a national responsibility.
He reminded Kenyans that the heroes who fought for independence had sacrificed greatly to free the country from external control, and it was now the duty of every generation to continue defending that freedom.
The opposition leader also took aim at the government over the recent November 27, 2025 by-elections.
He accused state agencies of interfering with the vote and undermining the democratic process.
According to Kalonzo, credible observer groups such as the Kenya Human Rights Commission and the Elections Observers Group (ELOG) had already confirmed that the polls were tainted by irregularities.
He argued that free and fair elections form the foundation of national sovereignty, and any attempt to distort the will of the people is a direct threat to Kenya’s stability.
