ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has said that no justice can be expected from the government of President William Ruto regarding the death of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.

Speaking publicly, Sifuna urged those calling for accountability to leave the matter in the hands of Jirongo’s family and religious leaders.

Sifuna said the only path forward is to work with Jirongo’s close relatives, particularly the church leaders, to handle matters surrounding his passing.

He suggested that the government cannot provide justice or answers about the circumstances of the tragic incident.

“What we can do is join our brothers and sisters who are asking questions, but we must understand that no justice will come from William Ruto’s government regarding Jirongo’s life,” Sifuna said.

He added that the responsibility for any actions and answers now lies with the family and community leaders, who he said have already begun addressing the situation.

Sifuna’s remarks come amid growing public concern over the events that led to Jirongo’s death.

The former MP, aged 64, died on December 13 after a head-on collision with a passenger bus along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway at Karai.

His sudden passing has sparked calls for transparency and questions about whether foul play was involved.

While many members of the public have demanded a full investigation, Sifuna emphasized that political leaders cannot ensure accountability in this matter.

He encouraged citizens to respect the family’s approach and allow them to manage the situation according to their customs and beliefs.
