Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party has announced a major change in its leadership, naming Jeremiah Kioni as the new Deputy Party Leader.

The announcement comes as part of a wider reshuffle aimed at strengthening the party’s structure and preparing it for future political moves.

In a statement issued on Thursday, January 22, Jubilee confirmed that Kioni will take over the deputy leadership role.

This marks a return to the party’s top leadership circle for the former MP, who has been active in national politics for many years.

At the same time, the party also announced that former Narok Member of Parliament Richard Ole Kenta has been appointed as the new Secretary General. Kenta replaces Jeremiah Kioni, who previously held the position.

The change signals a new direction for Jubilee’s administrative and political strategies, as the party seeks to rebuild and expand its influence across the country.

Jubilee’s statement highlighted that the leadership changes were made to ensure better coordination and stronger party management.

The party said the new team will focus on improving party operations and uniting members behind a common agenda.

Jeremiah Kioni will be working closely with former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who became Deputy Party Leader in October 2025.

The two leaders are expected to work together to guide Jubilee’s political strategies and strengthen the party’s role in national politics.

The appointment of Kioni and Kenta comes at a time when Jubilee is looking to regain momentum after years of shifting alliances and political realignments.

The party has faced challenges in maintaining a strong presence in key regions, and the leadership changes are seen as part of efforts to rebuild its support base.

Political analysts say the new leadership team may also be preparing Jubilee for upcoming elections, as the party aims to position itself as a key player in the country’s political future.
