The exercise, which is being held nationwide, aims to elect party officials at the polling centre level and strengthen the party’s structures ahead of the 2027 general election.
Arriving at the polling station in the morning, President Ruto was welcomed by party supporters and local officials.
He spent several minutes at the voting area, where he carefully followed the voting process before casting his ballot.
The president encouraged other party members to participate in the elections and ensure a peaceful, transparent exercise.
Speaking to the media after voting, Ruto described the grassroots elections as an important opportunity for UDA members to select leaders who will represent their interests at the local level.
He emphasized that strong, well-organized local leadership is key to ensuring that the party remains connected to ordinary Kenyans.
“These elections are about empowering our members and strengthening UDA from the ground up,” Ruto said. “I urge all members to participate, vote responsibly, and respect the results.”
The president also highlighted that the party’s grassroots structures play a critical role in mobilizing communities, promoting development initiatives, and ensuring that the party remains responsive to the needs of its supporters.
He noted that active participation by members at the polling centre level reflects a healthy democracy within the party.
Security and election officials were on hand to oversee the process at Koilel Primary School, ensuring order and compliance with the party’s voting guidelines.
Observers noted that the environment at the polling station was calm and organized, with members queuing patiently to cast their votes.
