Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has strongly denied any connection between his political faction and an application to register a new party known as Linda Mwananchi.

In a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Amisi made it clear that neither he nor a group of opposition leaders often linked to the Linda Mwananchi movement are behind the proposed party. He said the registration effort is not connected to them in any way.

“Linda Mwananchi party is not associated with us,” Amisi wrote, before listing several leaders he said have no ties to the application.

Among those he mentioned were Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, James Orengo, Godfrey Osotsi, Caroli Omondi, Joshua Kimilu, and Clive Gisairo.

He stressed that none of these leaders is involved in the move to form the party.

Amisi suggested that the attempt to register a party under the name Linda Mwananchi could be meant to confuse the public.

He claimed the move appears designed to create the impression that the opposition leaders he mentioned are reorganising under a new political outfit, which he says is not true.

The Saboti lawmaker noted that the Linda Mwananchi movement has been associated with calls for accountability and better governance, but it does not automatically mean that those linked to the movement are forming a political party under that name.

He urged members of the public to be cautious and verify information before drawing conclusions.

The development comes at a time when political activities are slowly intensifying as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

New party registrations often spark speculation about shifting alliances and possible realignments.
