Dispute is brewing within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after Rose Juma raised concerns about what she claims are irregular changes in the party’s delegates list for Muhoroni Constituency ahead of important party elections.

Juma has alleged that the list of delegates expected to participate in upcoming county-level elections in Kisumu County was altered by some national party officials without the knowledge or approval of local members.

According to her, the alleged changes could affect the credibility and fairness of the internal party processes.

The ODM party is currently preparing for several key political activities, including grassroots elections across different counties and the highly anticipated ODM National Delegates Convention 2026.

Delegates chosen at the constituency and county levels play a crucial role because they are the ones who represent party members during major decisions and national meetings.

Speaking about the matter, Juma claimed that the delegates list that was originally agreed upon by local party members in Muhoroni appears to have been modified.

She argued that some names were removed while others were added, raising questions about how the changes were made and who authorized them.

According to her, such actions could undermine the trust that party supporters have in the internal electoral process.

She warned that if the issue is not addressed early, it could create unnecessary tension within the party at a time when unity is needed.

Juma said party officials should ensure transparency in the preparation of delegates lists, noting that the process must reflect the will of members at the grassroots level.

She insisted that any attempt to manipulate the list would deny legitimate members the opportunity to represent their communities.

She further called on the party leadership to investigate the claims and clarify how the final list was compiled.

In her view, addressing the issue quickly would help avoid disputes during the county elections and prevent confusion among party members.

The ODM party has been conducting internal elections across several regions as part of its effort to strengthen its structures and prepare for future political activities.

These processes are also meant to ensure that party members at the grassroots level have a voice in decision-making.

The delegates selected during these elections are expected to attend the National Delegates Convention, where important decisions about the party’s direction, leadership, and strategies are often discussed.

Political observers note that disputes over delegates lists are not uncommon in major political parties, especially during periods of internal elections.

However, they warn that unresolved disagreements can sometimes create divisions if not handled carefully.
