Former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has dismissed claims by some United Opposition leaders suggesting foul play in the plane crash that killed Johana Ng’eno, the MP for Emurua Dikirr Constituency.

Speaking on Monday, March 2, 2026, during an interview with Herman Manyora on his podcast, Sossion described the allegations as unfounded and said they were intended to create mischief.

“Those raising these claims are trying to push a narrative that is not grounded in facts,” he said.

He emphasized that the story had not gained acceptance among the Kalenjin community, Ng’eno’s people, who are mourning his death.

Sossion urged that the late MP be allowed to rest in peace and that his family, community, and supporters be given space to grieve.

“Ng’eno’s passing is a tragic loss, and the focus should be on mourning him respectfully rather than stirring unnecessary controversy,” he stated.

He further explained that, based on the information currently available, the aircraft was flying through severe weather at the time of the crash.

Sossion noted that this understanding aligns with the views of the Kalenjin community, which has expressed a desire to await the outcome of official investigations before making any conclusions.

“Before any formal investigations are completed, the current understanding is that the plane encountered bad weather.

This is the position many in Ng’eno’s community are holding as they wait for the authorities to provide clear findings,” he said.

The outspoken former KNUT leader warned against politicizing the tragedy, stressing that the loss of a serving MP should not be turned into a tool for political gain.

He added that circulating unverified claims could further hurt the grieving families and communities affected by the crash.

Sossion also called on political leaders across the spectrum to exercise restraint and respect the mourning process.

According to him, spreading unverified stories or conspiracy theories at this stage would only deepen tensions and create divisions that do not exist.

He highlighted that investigations by aviation authorities are the appropriate channel to determine the cause of the crash.

Until official findings are released, he urged the public and politicians to avoid speculation.
